Offering our full and complete attention to the present moment, without judgment and with open acceptance of all that we feel, is a powerful and accesible way of being. Fullness of attention, or full-minded-ness, has been practiced for many generations among many cultural and spiritual lineages.
As our ancestors tilled the soil, sang their songs, made medicine, and rocked their babies to sleep, they practiced being in the fullness of body and mind. They practiced envisioning the possibilities of futures of Freedom, with their complete attention. Living in the present moment helps us to gather inner resources and to bolster ourselves as we face the challenges of our lives.
MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) has been applied in the (allopathic) medical field since the 1970's through the method instituted by Jon Kabat Zin, PhD. Zin translated into empirical medical evidence what he learned through ancient meditation practice. MBSR has now been clinically proven to reduce stress among individuals who complete this 8-Week foundational practice which serves as a reset and an access point to ongoing inner resources.
